The only hitch during another great night of racing at the Kingaroy Speedway last Saturday was a blackout which knocked out the lights for a short time.<\/p>\n

While parts of Kingaroy had a longer power outage, the actual blackout at the showground was only very brief, but it took a longer period to get the racing lights back into full action.<\/p>\n

But the hiccup didn’t faze the good crowd which had turned out to watch the racing action.<\/p>\n

The highlight of the night was the Grand Final of the Ian Boettcher Race Parts\u00a0Golden Helmet Series for Modified Sedans.<\/p>\n

Toowoomba driver – and current NSW champion – Rodney “Rocket” Pammenter was leading the points table coming into the last round, after winning all completed rounds in the series.<\/p>\n

And he and his Commodore proved it was no fluke on Saturday.<\/p>\n

Pammenter, who has been racing Modifieds since 2006, dominated in the heats before coming out and winning the A Main ahead of Aidan Raymont and Darren Lester.<\/p>\n

Final points in the Golden Helmet competition were Pammenter (745), Russell Harris (588), and Kingaroy driver Brett Barron (546) in third spot.<\/p>\n

Racing was also tight in the other categories contested in Kingaroy on Saturday..<\/p>\n

Super Sedans were competing for the\u00a0Kev Barkle Cup (Round 10 of the Think Money Super Sedan Championship Series). \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Kingaroy driver Travis Barron had bad luck early, getting a flat tyre in Heat 2 after being taken out by another racer. Barron’s luck improved later when he greeted the chequered flag in Heat 5.<\/p>\n

David Musch won on his home track in Heat 1.<\/p>\n

The crowd highlight of the A Main was a large pile-up on Lap 25 which took out a number of racers.<\/p>\n

Fortunately, no one was hurt and favourite Darren Kane, from Ipswich, was well clear of the trouble.<\/p>\n

As the laps ticked down, Kane stayed in the lead, followed by Mark Pagel, from Gympie. Matt Pascoe, also from Ipswich, worked his way through the field to be in third position at the chequered flag.<\/p>\n

The next meeting at the Kingaroy Speedway will be held on May 6 as part of the Kingaroy Show.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In action will be Modified and Production sedans, Junior sedans (the grand final of the TWA Allstar Series), Street Stocks, National 4s and Wingless Sprints.<\/p>\n

Gate prices (which includes the Kingaroy Show) are adults $15, students (aged 12-17 years) $10 and children aged 12 and under free (accompanied by an adult).<\/p>\n
