Clayton’s Towing has successfully recovered the 23.5 tonne excavator which fell through the derelict Ennis Bridge at Brooklands on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

The machine, which was involved in an attempt to demolish the bridge, landed upside down in the mostly dry Barker Creek.<\/p>\n

The driver was airlifted in a serious condition to Royal Brisbane Hospital. No update is available on his condition.<\/p>\n

On Friday, Clayton’s attached chains to the excavator and righted it in the creek bed.<\/p>\n

It was then pulled up the western bank of the creek, with a bit of help from its own caterpillar tracks.<\/p>\n

The excavator was lifted onto a low-loader and then hauled away from the scene.<\/p>\n

With the damaged machinery removed, demolition of the bridge is expected to resume soon.<\/p>\n
