Former South Burnett jockey Jason Hoopert returned triumphantly to Kilcoy on Anzac Day … the first time he’s ridden at the track since an horrific race fall there in July 2006.<\/p>\n

He’s been back racing for a bit over 12 months now but this is the first time he has returned to the site of the accident that almost claimed his life.<\/p>\n

Hoopert started the meeting on a confident note, bringing top-weight Aljomaka Bay home fourth in Race 1, the Maiden Plate, for trainer Jason Livingstone from Maidenwell.<\/p>\n

His only other ride on the day was Mount Freedom in Race 4, the 1200m Class B Handicap, which Hoopert led almost from the jump, eventually streaking away to win by three lengths.<\/p>\n
