The Goomeri Show Society have been kept busy this week doing last minute preparations for this weekend’s Goomeri Show, which will kick off on Friday with the judging of pavilion entries.<\/p>\n

But on Saturday, when the gates open for the Show’s main public day, organisers will all be hoping for fine weather.<\/p>\n

Goomeri has received a lot of rain recently, and it’s greened up the pastures around the Town Of 1911.<\/p>\n

But now that it’s Show time, organisers want Hughie the Rain God to ease up, take a break and join in the fun.<\/p>\n

This year’s Goomeri Show will be offering entertainment for the whole family.<\/strong><\/p>\n

As usual, there’ll be hotly-contested stud and prime beef cattle competitions in the main ring, along with equestrian events that are expected to draw good numbers of competitors.<\/p>\n

The main pavilion will feature entries in the farm and garden, horticulture, needlework and craft, fine art, culinary and photography sections, along with two special sections for children: plastic building blocks and school work.<\/p>\n

But other attractions sure to raise interest include a Championship Dog Show that is expected to see more than 400 entries this year; an Iron Man Challenge; and a fun sideshow alley.<\/p>\n

The Show Society’s bar will be operating throughout, and there’ll be plenty of food outlets in the grounds.<\/p>\n

In the evening, there’ll be a new hay baling competition that will revive a contest not seen at Goomeri’s Showgrounds for a quarter of a century; a Working Cowhorse that’s part of Sunday’s Stockman’s Challenge; and a giant fireworks display sponsored by BGA Goomeri at 8:00pm.<\/p>\n

The Show will be officially opened at 2:00pm.<\/p>\n

On Sunday, the main part of the Stockman’s Challenge will be run in the main ring, and it’s likely to draw a big field of competitors and a good audience.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Admission to the Goomeri Show is $12 for adults, $5 for children aged 13 to under 18, and under 12s are free.<\/p>\n

A family pass is available for $25 for two adults and two children aged 13 to under 18.<\/p>\n

Guests who plan to stay for the entire weekend are also welcome to camp in the Showgrounds’ RV-friendly site, which features an on-site caretaker and on-site showers and toilets.<\/p>\n

Unpowered sites can be hired for $10 a night, powered sites for $15, and dogs are welcome.<\/p>\n
