The grounds of Nanango’s Ringsfield House were abuzz with happy chatter on Saturday when about 170 current and former Nanango residents got together for the Nanango and District Past and Present Resident\u2019s Reunion.<\/p>\n

They were celebrating a tradition that stretches back 55 years … and this year, they were also celebrating that 2017’s reunion was the first time the annual event has ever been held in Nanango.<\/p>\n

For all its life, the reunion has been held at various locations in Brisbane, starting off at the city’s botanical gardens before relocating to New Farm Park about a decade ago.<\/p>\n

Organiser Vicky Cross said steadily dwindling attendance numbers over the past few years had made her and other reunion organisers reconsider the venue.<\/p>\n

“We were concerned our event was dying,” Vicky said.<\/p>\n

“Last year we had 100 turn up, but the year before that it was only 50.”<\/p>\n

So the group decided to hold this year’s gathering in Nanango, where they were amply rewarded with near-perfect weather and a bumper turnout.<\/strong><\/p>\n

For most of the day, guests enjoyed a relaxing morning on Ringsfield’s lawns, meeting up with old friends to eat, drink and chat over shared memories.<\/p>\n

Some also took the opportunity to explore Ringsfield House and its grounds, while others took a look over Nanango’s CBD and the remarkable changes that have taken place in the town over the past few years.<\/p>\n

While guests were encouraged to bring their own seating, lunch catering was available for those who booked ahead. But those who wanted to were welcome to BYO lunch supplies.<\/p>\n

Some current Nanango residents also turned out for the day to reconnect with friends and enjoy the opportunity of an Autumn picnic.<\/p>\n
