Overnight rain made trails in the Nanango Forestry a bit more challenging that normal for the South Burnett Mountain Bike Club’s February ride, but the area looked beautiful<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The South Burnett Mountain Bike Club has held two rides this year, both along different routes, and they’ve been very well attended.<\/p>\n

On Sunday, February 19, the club held a free Come And Try cycle ride along roads and single trails in the Nanango Forestry.<\/p>\n

There was a terrific turnout for this event, with thirty riders from Nanango, Murgon, Kingaroy and the Wondai area meeting up at the Tipperary Flats barbecues mid-way between the BP Nanango and the Peanut Wagon at 6:45am for a 7:00am start.<\/p>\n

Overnight rain made the single trails more challenging than usual – especially for new riders – and more than a few bikes need a clean after the ride.<\/p>\n

But it was great to see many new riders come along and join the club for this unusual ride through a part of the region not that many people get to see.<\/p>\n

This was followed by a different ride last Sunday (March 12), when members met up at near the rotunda in Kingaroy’s Memorial Park for a ride via the Rail Trail to Mt Wooroolin, again at 6:45am.<\/p>\n

From there, riders took single trails and back roads to finish back at Memorial Park at around 9:30am for a sausage sizzle and cold drinks.<\/p>\n

The club was formed in the latter part of last year, and it intends to continue holding monthly rides across a variety of trails and locations.<\/p>\n

Members also want to continue developing the club’s identity and spreading the word about mountain biking, both within the South Burnett and further afield.<\/p>\n

To help this process along, the club now has its own logo and ride jerseys, thanks to support from three local businesses who sponsor its activities: PSM Probike, John Provan Building and major sponsor Bill Hull Car Centre.<\/p>\n

Club signage and a club shirt are now in the planning phase.<\/p>\n

The Mountain Bike Club is also looking forward to being part of some upcoming events planned for the Rail Trail later in the year.<\/p>\n
