The State Government has extended for another eight months its $20,000 “Youth Boost” incentive to employers hiring young staff in regional Queensland .<\/p>\n

\u201cSince late last year, the government has offered a Youth Boost payment of up to $20,000 if those workers are aged between 15 and 24 years,” Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said.<\/p>\n

\u201cAlready, there has been 902 applications for the Youth Boost \u2013 365 approved across 256 employers with another 537 applications pending.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Youth Boost ended on February 28. However, following representations from employers and regional Members of the government, the government has decided to extend the Youth Boost until October 31.\u201d<\/p>\n

The “Youth Boost” payment is part of the government’s\u00a0$100 million Back to Work program.<\/p>\n

Premier Palaszczuk said this program had so far helped more than 1800 people back into the workforce, \u00a0with more than 780 applications pending approval.<\/p>\n

She said 875 businesses had employed 1805 workers in regional Queensland.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe majority of applications have come from small business, with 367 \u00a0from businesses with one to four employees, while another 610 applications were from businesses with staff of five to 19,” she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cMore than one-in-four of the regional Queenslanders supported into the workforce by Back to Work program are long-term unemployed. For those long-term unemployed, our program offers an employer support payment of $15,000.”<\/p>\n
