South Burnett property owners can register their unwanted agricultural and veterinary chemicals for Agsafe\u2019s ChemClear collection, which is hitting the road in June.<\/p>\n

The industry-led chemical waste clean-up is aimed at encouraging farmers and other agvet chemical users to ensure they safely dispose of these chemicals by registering any unused and unknown chemicals for collection.<\/p>\n

Farmers and landowners in the South Burnett have until April 28 to register their unwanted chemicals online, or by ringing a hotline number.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Registered people will be notified of collection locations in May.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe easiest way to get organised is to head out to your sheds with pen and paper in hand, take an inventory of all the surplus and unknown chemicals, then contact ChemClear,” National ChemClear manager Lisa Nixon said.<\/p>\n

“Include the name of the product, the manufacturer, the size of the container and the remaining quantity in the container, to simplify registration.”<\/p>\n

Chemical containers displaying the drumMUSTER logo are eligible for free collection and known as Group 1 chemicals.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Agvet chemical containers without the logo or which are unlabelled, expired, mixed or from non-participating manufacturers, are designated Group 2 products and incur a per litre\/kg fee for disposal.<\/p>\n

A quote will be provided when booking Group 2 chemicals.<\/p>\n

The South Burnett Regional Council is partnering with ChemClear.<\/p>\n

\u201cChemclear is a not-for-profit program that has been running since 2005 and its objective is to provide a safe disposal process for unwanted agricultural chemicals,\u201d Cr Danita Potter said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI encourage all South Burnett residents to register all their unwanted agricultural and veterinary chemicals for collection.\u201d<\/p>\n
