The South Burnett Regional Council will partner with the Red Earth Foundation to help deliver a $6 million State Government program that aims to foster private sector innovation.<\/p>\n

Last October, the Queensland Government announced it would be making an Advancing Regional Innovation Program available to 12 regional areas, including the Wide Bay-Burnett.<\/p>\n

The program aims to turn regions into hubs for innovation and enterprise, and the Government has allocated $500,000 to the Wide Bay-Burnett over the next two years.<\/p>\n

A key aim of the program is to build on existing local infrastructure and systems, rather than develop something new.<\/p>\n

All projects funded under the scheme will require a matching contribution from business.<\/p>\n

On Wednesday, the South Burnett Regional Council announced it intends to work with other Wide Bay-Burnett councils to implement the program across the Wide Bay-Burnett.<\/p>\n

The Council also announced it will partner with Red Earth Foundation South Burnett to deliver the program locally.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“This presents a great opportunity for local businesses with an innovative project ready to go or in the development phase to join this program,” Mayor Keith Campbell said.<\/p>\n

“This program may well produce an innovative project that benefits the whole region, and I encourage business to come along to a two hour workshop on Friday, March 10 in Kingaroy to hear more about the program and discuss their ideas.”<\/p>\n
