Four of the South Burnett’s best wineries will be parading their wares at this year’s Wine and Food In The Park Festival, and they’ll be joined by two “out of town” wineries.<\/p>\n

This will allow festival-goers to compare the home grown product with wines produced outside the region.<\/p>\n

Moffatdale’s Clovely Estate, which is the biggest winery in Queensland, will be bringing their wide range to this year’s festival.<\/p>\n

Clovely produce more varieties than anyone else, often from small trial plantings of just an acre or two to test if new varieties will do well in the South Burnett’s climate and soils.<\/p>\n

They’ve had many successes, including some rarely-seen Italian and Georgian varieties that have turned into gold medal-winners.<\/p>\n

Kingsley Grove, the South Burnett’s second largest winery, will also be showing their own varieties.<\/p>\n

Like Clovely, Kingsley Grove have been trialling uncommon new varieties like Sangiovese and Viognier alongside staples like Merlot and Cabernbet Sauvignon, and have had some tearaway successes with them.<\/p>\n

Cranes Winery and Moffatdale Ridge will also be on hand with their own boutique wines, along with their liqueurs.<\/p>\n

This year they’ll be joined by Ohana Winery, a boutique winery from Childers, and 2nd 2 None Wines from Kingsthorpe.<\/p>\n

Both of these wineries produce their range in very different soils and climates, providing tasters with two striking points of comparison against the local drop.<\/p>\n

And for those whose taste doesn’t run to wine, Kingaroy’s Com Pub will be offering mid-strength craft beers; and the Festival’s own bar will be offering mid-strength beers and spirit mixers, along with soft drinks.<\/p>\n

Earlier this month the Festival committee announced they’ll be adopting a different “village-style” layout in the grounds.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Giant Wine Tent that has dominated the event for the last decade will be gone, and wineries and bars will be intermingled with the food tents in the Giant Food Court.<\/p>\n

“Wine and Food In The Park is about those two things – wine and food,” committee president Chrys McDuffie said.<\/p>\n

“We always want to encourage responsible consumption of alcohol, and one of the most responsible ways to consume it is in moderation, and with food.<\/p>\n

“Most Aussies know the best way to relax is over a meal with friends and a glass or two of wine, and we hope lots of people get to do that with out new layout.”<\/p>\n

The 2017 Wine and Food In The Park Festival will be held at Kingaroy’s Memorial Park on Saturday, March 11 from noon to 8:00pm.<\/strong><\/p>\n
