Young Aussie Rules fans in the South Burnett were in for a treat on Tuesday when two Brisbane Lions players showed up at their season sign-on day in Kingaroy.<\/p>\n

Lions’ forward Jacob Allison, who has just been drafted by the Brisbane-based side, joined utility player and three-season veteran Josh Clayton at Lyle Vidler Oval.<\/p>\n

The pair kicked the ball around for their young fans, demonstrating passing skills and taking catches.<\/p>\n

The footballers planned to stay in Kingaroy overnight before visiting Taabinga State School and St John’s Lutheran College on Wednesday to spread the AFL message.<\/p>\n

The visit is part of a blitz of “community camps” across south-east Queensland by the Brisbane Lions.<\/p>\n

In the Darling Downs AFL region, all sign-on days were being held on the same day in a bid to get as many young players as possible to sign up.<\/p>\n

The South Burnett season launch also featured a sausage sizzle and free face-painting by Karla’s Carnival.<\/p>\n

Cr Danita Potter also dropped in to hand over a cheque to the club for $300, from her discretionary fund, to help the Saints run their current Auskick program for juniors.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
