Maleny artist Katie Wells has a selection of landscapes and portraiture on show at the Kingaroy Regional Art Gallery this month; the award winning artist exhibits interstate and overseas<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Art lovers only have a week left to see the Kingaroy Art Gallery’s February exhibition, which is really three separate exhibitions combined.<\/p>\n

This month the Gallery is showing works by Maleny artist Katie Wells; prints produced by South Burnett print makers Rachel Weldon, Carmel Nott and Fran Van Vegchel; and a solo exhibition by Kaye Kerner, who recently moved to the region from far western Queensland.<\/p>\n

The three shows were officially opened on Saturday, February 4 and will remain on display until Tuesday, February 28.<\/p>\n

Katie Wells’ exhibition in the main gallery covers a cross section of her eclectic work.<\/strong><\/p>\n

It includes landscapes and portraiture, and several pieces which have just returned from the Rotary Art Spectacular in Brisbane, where she is a regular exhibitor.<\/p>\n

Katie’s work has also been exhibited in the UK, New Zealand and interstate, and she has won a number of awards.<\/p>\n

Gallery Two, meanwhile, is hosting a collection of prints by South Burnett print makers Carmel Nott, Fran van Vegchel and Rachel Weldon, who share a common passion for print-making.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The exhibition also contains some prints drawn from the South Burnett Art Collection and private collections.<\/p>\n

It is more than just a static display: demonstrations of print making have been given throughout the month, and participants have been able to take home finished pieces.<\/p>\n

“It\u2019s a must-see, must-get-involved opportunity,” Kingaroy Art Gallery curator Wayne Brown said.<\/p>\n

“If people like the format, we will aim to do more similar events.<\/p>\n

“For many people buying their first art pieces, limited edition prints can be a very good starting point – they give you an original artwork at a much reduced price.”<\/p>\n

To round out the February exhibition, Gallery Three is displaying a range of landscapes executed in pastels by Kaye Kerner.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Kaye and her husband Gene recently relocated from Yowah, 160km west of Cunnamulla, to Murgon.<\/p>\n

The couple had run an art and opal gallery at their former home for a number of years, and hope to open a similar venture in Murgon.<\/p>\n

Kaye won a second prize at the Wondai Regional Art Gallery’s South Burnett Art Competition in October last year, and her husband’s opal jewellery is already a popular seller at the Gallery’s Shop 38.<\/p>\n
