The South Burnett Regional Council will be merging all its community grants programs into a single grant program next financial year.<\/p>\n

Mayor Keith Campbell told Wednesday’s Council meeting the SBRC provides a range of grants and rate remissions to support the region’s community organisations through a number of different programs.<\/p>\n

These had been reviewed as part of preparations for the 2017-18 Budget, and a decision had been taken to combine them into a single Community Grants Program.<\/p>\n

The aim was to make it easier for community groups to understand and access Council grants, in a fair and equitable way.<\/p>\n

The new Community Grants Program will have the following categories:<\/strong><\/p>\n

    \n
  • Community Events Sponsorship – New and Emerging<\/li>\n
  • Community Event Sponsorship – Regionally Significant<\/li>\n
  • Project\/Program – One off sponsorship<\/li>\n
  • Community Hall Public Liability Insurance Grants<\/li>\n
  • Elite Performance Youth Grants<\/li>\n
  • In-kind Sponsorship<\/li>\n
  • Healthy Communities Grants<\/li>\n
  • Councillor Discretionary Fund<\/li>\n
  • Regional Arts Development Fund<\/li>\n
  • Subsidised Hire of Council Halls<\/li>\n
  • Mayor’s Community Benefit Fund<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    The Mayor said Council officers will be contacting community organisations in March to explain how the new grant program will work, and how to access funding in 2017-18.<\/strong><\/p>\n

    The Council will also determine the amount of funding available under the new Community Grants Program as part of its 2017-18 Budget preparations.<\/p>\n

    “I believe this funding is important to assist our community organisations,” the Mayor said.<\/p>\n

    “In the majority of cases (they) double or triple the value of this support in the delivery of their programs, activities or events.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
