It was a tight match with just one point (9-8) separating the pair at the 15th end, but then Errol skipped away for a 25-13 win.

In the second game, Dave Barwick took on Malcolm Macleod. Malcolm went into the 18th end with a four point lead (16-12) and went on to win comfortably by 25-15.

In the third game, John Lacey and Danny Holligan battled it out, with Danny emerging the winner 25-14.

In the first game of Round 2, Bruce Johnston met Paul Marychurch. Paul got off to a slow start but by the 15th end he was only 2 points behind (14-16). However, Bruce responded with some good bowling to take out the win 26-18.

In the round’s second game, Errol Dionysius took on Malcolm Macleod. Malcolm never looked comfortable in the match and was soundly beaten 25-12.

Game three saw Danny Holligan meet Ray Maclaren after Ray had a win on forfeit in Round 1. Scores were dead even after the 14th end (10-10) but Danny went on to win 25-14.

The final game of the second round was between Trevor Turner and Wayne Thatcher. Trevor had a lead of four points by the 15th end (12-8) and maintained his lead to win the match 25-17.

* * *

The two rounds were followed by the semi-finals.

In the first semi, Bruce Johnston met Errol Dionysius. Both had enjoyed good wins in the second round, so it looked like being a tight game and the two bowlers didn’t disappoint, with the scores level at the 7th end (7-7) and 11th end (10-10).

By the 19th end, though, Errol managed to get a point in front, and after this he went on to win 27-22.

In the second semi, Danny Holligan and Trevor Turner met in a game that everyone thought would be an arm wrestle.

However Danny got off to a flying start and was in front by 12 points at the 11th end (17-5), going on to win the match 25-7.

<h2 lead (23-16), so it seemed like it was all over for Danny.

But to Danny’s credit, he dug his heels in and started a fightback that saw the score tied at 23-all by the 30th end.

And in the following end, Danny finally hit the front (24-23).

However, Errol kept a cool head and picked up two shots in the next end to take out the win 25-24 in what most
