Former Cherbourg resident Shaleise Law helped to make Queensland sporting history on Sunday when she ran on to the field for the Brisbane Lions in Round 1 of the new AFL Women’s competition.<\/p>\n

Law was selected in the forwards for the game against the Melbourne Demons.<\/p>\n

The match was played in atrocious conditions at Casey Fields in Cranbourne East, Melbourne.<\/p>\n

The players battled through heavy rain and strong winds until lightning finally forced a temporary halt to the game.<\/p>\n

In the end, Brisbane proved too strong for the home team.<\/p>\n

The Lions won 4.1 (25) to 1.4 (10), leading at every change.<\/p>\n

Law learned her AFL skills at St Saviour’s College in Toowoomba.<\/p>\n
