Wagners have launched legal action against Toowoomba Regional Council in relation to the Brisbane West Wellcamp Airport development.<\/p>\n

The company has appealed to the Planning and Environment Court after TRC issued infrastructure charges notices in relation to the adjacent Wagners Business Park just before Christmas.<\/p>\n

The initial charges are believed to total $1 million but Wagners fear the charges could top $30 million for stormwater alone\u00a0if extended across the whole business park.<\/p>\n

Wagners have lodged seven notices of appeal in court.<\/p>\n

Wagners chairman Denis Wagner told media while the company had no issue with paying charges, they needed to be commensurate with the infrastructure provided.<\/p>\n

He said there was a lot of stormwater infrastructure built onsite at Wagners’ cost, including detention basins, and the work did not adversely impact a nearby creek.<\/p>\n

“The stormwater doesn’t flow through one council pipe,” Mr Wagner said.<\/p>\n

He said if the issue of infrastructure charges was not resolved it would stifle development in the region and cost jobs.<\/p>\n
