South Burnett crafts people will get a rare chance to learn how to make stylish, strikingly beautiful costume jewellery using dichroic glass this February.<\/p>\n

Dichroic glass is glass which displays different colors in certain lighting conditions.<\/p>\n

Although methods of making this special type of glass have been known since the 4th century, modern dichroic glass is now available thanks to research carried out by NASA and its contractors as part of the space program.<\/p>\n

The weekend-long workshop has been arranged by Jumping Ant Arts through an RADF grant from the South Burnett Regional Council.<\/p>\n

It will be held at the 1913 Council Chambers behind the Kingaroy Visitor Information Centre between 8:30am and 4:00pm on Saturday and Sunday, February 18-19.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The workshop will be led by dichroic glass expert Shirley Wilkins.<\/p>\n

Shirley previously demonstrated dichroic glass in the region in October 2013 when she was one of five tutors brought to Kingaroy for the Wide Bay Burnett Potters Association\u2019s 38th Annual Convention.<\/p>\n

Course fees for the weekend workshop are $50.<\/p>\n

This includes glass, materials, the use of specialized tools and firing costs, plus morning and afternoon teas both days.<\/p>\n
