The South Burnett’s new mountain bike riding club hopes to develop extra single riding trails in the McEuen State Forestry area near Wondai to complement the South Burnett Rail Trail.<\/p>\n

“Since our club came into being in September 2016 we have held regular social rides around the South Burnett,” South Burnett Mountain Bike Club secretary Jason Wyeth said.<\/p>\n

“These included riding the single trails in the Din Din State Forestry area at Nanango, the McEuen State Forestry at Wondai and the single trails at Mount Wooroolin.<\/p>\n

“We also held ‘Rides in the Country’ utilising bitumen and dirt back roads and sections of the South Burnett Rail Trail.”<\/p>\n

Jason said all the club’s rides attracted 15-20 people, and were always very social in nature.<\/p>\n

“Our Christmas ride was a particular highlight, with more than 20 riders jumping on their bikes to ride the Rail Trail to Mt Wooroolin,” he said.<\/p>\n

“Once at Mt Wooroolin, riders ventured onto the single trails, followed by a trip to the Kingaroy Hotel afterwards for some Christmas cheer.”<\/p>\n

Jason said this year club members are hoping to developing existing single trails in the McEuen State Forestry, and will be working closely with Parks and Wildlife to make it happen. <\/strong><\/p>\n

“These trails are very close to the new Rail Trail and the club feels this type of development will complement the Rail Trail very well,” Jason said.<\/p>\n

“The club also hope to secure a grant to assist with the development of the trails.”<\/p>\n

Jason said the South Burnett Mountain Bike Club caters for all riding levels, and most members ride for fitness and the social aspect of group riding.<\/p>\n

“But our club also has some members who like to push themselves hard by entering mountain bike competitions, so it really has something for everyone.”<\/p>\n

The club’s first club meeting for 2017 will be held at the Carrollee Hotel Tuesday, January 17 at 6:30pm to plan up-coming rides.<\/p>\n
