The Kingaroy Drop-In Centre run by South Burnett Peace Of Mind will be open for guests and volunteers over the Christmas break.<\/p>\n

The Drop-In Centre, which operates out of the Lutheran Church Hall in Youngman Street, will be open on December 25 (Christmas Day) from 2:00pm to midnight, December 26 (Boxing Day) from 9:00am to 9:30pm, December 31 (New Year’s Eve) from 9:00am to 12:30pm, and January 2 from 9:00am to 9:30pm.<\/p>\n

SB Peace Of Mind founder Rhonda Trivett, who keeps things ticking over at the centre every week with the help of a group of keen volunteers, said anyone who would be alone over Christmas could come along and enjoy the activities on offer.<\/p>\n

Dinner will also be provided.<\/p>\n

On Monday this week, 38 people – and three dogs – dropped in and out of the centre during the day with more expected before dinner at 6:00pm.<\/strong><\/p>\n

People were playing games and doing other activities, or simply chatting.<\/p>\n

In the kitchen, volunteers from the Ballogie QCWA – who volunteer one Monday a month at the Drop-In Centre – were preparing the evening meal.<\/p>\n

While southburnett.com.au<\/strong> was there, a visitor dropped in with a box of bananas. \u00a0Glen Noble is a regular face at the Drop-In Centre, donating fruit.<\/p>\n

“Christmas is all about helping each other,” Rhonda said, praising the volunteers.<\/p>\n

“Peace of Mind is working with other groups to try to make sure that no one falls through the cracks.”<\/p>\n

Rhonda’s long-term dream is to get a building in Kingaroy for Peace Of Mind.<\/p>\n

“I am determined to get a building, no matter what. Funding is never going to stop us from getting our goal. It is going to happen.”<\/p>\n
