Black spot funding has been earmarked by the Federal Government for a separate left turn lane for vehicles travelling south at the intersection of the Bunya Highway and Taylors Road<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

A three-vehicle pile-up occurred at one of Kingaroy’s most notorious intersections on Wednesday night.<\/p>\n

About 7:30pm, a vehicle travelling towards Kingaroy on the Bunya Highway\u00a0slowed to turn left into Taylors Road.<\/p>\n

Officer-in-charge of Kingaroy Police, Senior Sergeant Duane Frank, said a second vehicle also slowed but a third vehicle hit the back of the second, which then hit the first.<\/p>\n

“Fortunately no one was seriously injured but all three vehicles were towed from the scene,” Snr Sgt Frank said.<\/p>\n

He said it was a timely reminder that drivers should always follow other vehicles at a safe distance, allowing enough room to stop safely.<\/p>\n

“Police will be alleging the third vehicle was too close,” Snr Sgt Frank said.<\/p>\n

Earlier on Wednesday, SBRC Roads Portfolio chair Cr Spud Jones told fellow Councillors that a project to upgrade the intersection was now underway.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Cr Jones said design work on upgrading the intersection has begun.<\/p>\n

When complete, a right turn treatment, and a separate left turn lane for vehicles travelling south, will be installed.<\/p>\n

The Taylors Road intersection is a notorious black spot that has seen several serious crashes in recent years.<\/p>\n

It attracted $600,000 in Federal Government Black Spot funding for the upgrade in April.<\/p>\n

Designs for the upgrade will need approval from the Department Of Main Roads before work can commence.<\/p>\n
