Technical problems which closed Kingaroy Swimming Pool’s 50 metre and wading pools on Monday haven’t been solved yet.<\/p>\n

On Wednesday, the pool was reopened for a school swimming carnival and then for public use, but pool staff said it was unlikely to be open again on Thursday.<\/p>\n

“The issue has not yet been resolved but we have come up with solutions to keep the venue open,” pool operators Donna and Joe Dangerfield announced on their Facebook page.<\/p>\n

“Please be aware though that this will be assessed day to day. We may be open today but may not be tomorrow. You will get further updates every day explaining what is going on.<\/p>\n

“Your safety in our complex is paramount, and if we feel that it is unsafe we will close the venue until the problem is solved.”<\/p>\n

On Wednesday night Communities portfolio chair Cr Danita Potter told southburnett.com.au she understood the pool’s problems were caused by a malfunction connected to underground holding tanks.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“The situation is like a toilet that won’t stop flushing itself,” Cr Potter said.<\/p>\n

“The problem is somewhere under the pool and Council workmen will need to do some digging to find out where the problem is, and then reset the stopcock.”<\/p>\n

Cr Potter said the problem had only come to light this week as work crews carried out road maintenance in Alford Street near the 63-year-old pool complex.<\/p>\n

“I don’t know when they’ll be able to fix the problem, but with the heat we’ve been having lately I hope it’s soon.”<\/p>\n

Cr Potter said she also felt sorry for the Dangerfields, who won a two-year extension on their contract to manage the pool in September.<\/p>\n

Last year the couple’s business was impacted by extensive upgrades to the pool complex, and Cr Potter said she thought the latest closures would be hurting the pair as well.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
