Did you know there are more than 3500 active mobile speed camera sites in Queensland … including more than 40 in the South Burnett?<\/p>\n

These are locations where police are authorised to set up cameras to catch speeding motorists.<\/p>\n

As you would expect, most of the approved sites are along the major highways – the D’Aguilar, New England, Bunya, Burnett and Wide Bay – where the majority of high-speed crashes occur.<\/p>\n

But there are also some surprising locations, such as Bowman Road at Blackbutt and Couchmans Road in Kingaroy.<\/p>\n

According to the State Government, speed camera sites are approved according to strict selection criteria, including traffic crash history and verified high risk speeding behaviour.<\/p>\n

Sites are approved by a Speed Management Committee which consists of representatives from the police, the Department of Transport and Main Roads, RACQ and local councils.<\/p>\n

The table below lists approved mobile speed camera locations in the South Burnett.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Readers should remember this list does not include the D’Aguilar Highway past Blackbutt, most of the New England Highway or the Brisbane Valley Highway. However, if you check the full list on the State Government website you’ll find numerous camera sites between the South Burnett and Brisbane or Toowoomba.<\/p>\n

Mobile speed cameras can include camera vehicles fitted with special equipment parked on the side of the road, or portable devices held by police or set up on a tripod on the side of the road.<\/p>\n

NB. The State Government updates the list of locations quarterly. \u00a0Several of these locations are “parked” which means they’re not currently being used.<\/p>\n
