The force was with him: Santa Claus received a police escort to make sure he made it to this year’s Goomeri Christmas Carnival safely<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

December 6, 2016<\/strong><\/p>\n

A wild storm brought the Goomeri Christmas Carnival to an early end on Saturday night, but not before Santa fulfilled his annual commitments at the event.<\/p>\n

Santa arrived in a police car with lights flashing, and was quickly swamped with children who queued patiently for a chance to talk to the big man in red.<\/p>\n

There were also free ice creams to enjoy, along with stalls and the perennially popular Chip Van.<\/p>\n

The Goomeri Lions had their wheel spinning almost constantly in a bid to give away all their hams and Christmas cakes before the storm broke.<\/p>\n

The Wondai and District Band, which regularly performs at the Carnival, managed to pack up their musical instruments in time before the rain came.<\/p>\n

And on the main stage, Gympie’s Leon Smith Show Band kept playing some old favourites right up to when the first raindrops fell.<\/p>\n
