The 16th annual Blackbutt Community Christmas Festival kicked off on Sunday afternoon with the official unveiling of the schoolchildren’s mural.<\/p>\n

This traditional activity alternates every year between children at the Benarkin State School and the Blackbutt State School, and the mural is usually displayed in the Memorial Hall.<\/p>\n

However, because of uncertainty over whether the hall would be available this year, a smaller two-sided mural was designed to hang in Les Muller Park.<\/p>\n

It was the turn of the students from Benarkin State School to design the mural, and some were present for the unveiling.<\/p>\n

South Burnett mayor Keith Campbell and Blackbutt Benarkin Lions Club president Ivan Panzram did the honours.<\/p>\n

The afternoon’s activities also included a sausage sizzle, candle-making, face-painting, free ice-creams for the children, raffles and a jumping castle.<\/p>\n
