Activity packs for this year’s Summer Reading Club will be available at all the South Burnett’s libraries from Saturday, December 10<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

South Burnett children who want to take part in this year’s Summer Reading Club can pick up their
\nactivity pack from any of the South Burnett libraries from Saturday, December 10.<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s pack includes an activity booklet, a reading log and other South Burnett Regional Council goodies.<\/p>\n

The Summer Reading Club is a free online and in-library holiday program, run in partnership with the State Library of Queensland, the Australian Library and Information Association, and the Australian Public Library Alliance.<\/p>\n

This year, the Summer Reading Club is all about exploring the themes and conventions associated with super (and everyday) heroes, and their villainous counterparts.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Participants can blog with Australian Children\u2019s Laureate, Leigh Hobbs, and popular children\u2019s author, Deborah Abela; search for answers to Encyclopaedia Britannica\u2019s sponsored quiz; craft a “What Happens Next” story ending to Mick Elliot\u2019s story starter; share their book reviews and artwork; and lots more.<\/p>\n

South Burnett club members can also meet 21 new Australian authors and illustrators online, read their helpful creative hints and tips, and preview their newly released titles<\/p>\n

Preparations for “Hero and Villain” themed activities in each branch are already well under way, and children can check the Council’s library website or ask at their local branch for dates, times and event locations.<\/p>\n

The Summer Reading Club runs for the duration of the school holidays, with great prizes up for grabs at www.summerreadingclub.org.au<\/b><\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Summer Reading Club is delivered nationally, giving participants the opportunity to connect with other readers right across the country.<\/p>\n

Last year over 48,000 Australian children registered for the Summer Reading Club, and collectively they read more than 333,000 books.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
