Nanango SES will get a new office and training facility after the State Government announced it will give the South Burnett Regional Council a $192,000 grant to build it.<\/p>\n

The funding was announced by Deputy Premier Jackie Trad on Wednesday as part of the Natural Disaster Resilience Program (NDRP), which is jointly funded by the Commonwealth and State Governments.<\/p>\n

NDRP applications are open to all councils as well as not-for-profit organisations.<\/p>\n

Ms Trad said a new approach to grant applications had reduced the administrative burden and ensured a shorter turnaround time between submitting expressions of interest and being granted approval.<\/p>\n

“This funding is having an immediate impact on communities and will deliver jobs and projects immediately right across the state,” Ms Trad said.<\/p>\n

“Queensland is more susceptible to natural disasters than any other state and making our infrastructure more resilient is critical to helping communities get back on their feet.”<\/p>\n

In August last year, Nanango SES were forced to move into a storage shed in Grey Street, Nanango after their old shed in George Street was found to be full of termites and dry rot and no longer suitable for storing equipment. <\/strong><\/p>\n

The old SES premises were also located close to Sandy Creek and were at risk of flooding in extreme weather events.<\/p>\n

The new grant will allow the SES to build an office and training area on their new site and extend the fencing.<\/p>\n
