Former Kingaroy Red Ant Lane Ferling has signed a contract to play for the Cronulla Sharks in the Holden Cup.<\/p>\n

The Under 20s National Youth Competition is the successor to the old Jersey Flegg Cup and is the traditional proving ground for future NRL stars.<\/p>\n

Games are played before NRL matches.<\/p>\n

Earlier this year, Ferling was named FOGS Colts Challenge Player of the Year at the 2016 Queensland Rugby League Awards.<\/p>\n

He earned this with strong performances with Norths Devils U20s in 2016.<\/p>\n

He played five-eighth for the Devils and also captained the team.<\/p>\n

Last year, Ferling was selected in the Australian Universities rugby league team which toured New Zealand.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
