{"id":164749,"date":"2016-11-29T12:31:01","date_gmt":"2016-11-29T02:31:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/?p=164749"},"modified":"2020-07-19T15:47:08","modified_gmt":"2020-07-19T05:47:08","slug":"storm-cuts-power-to-14000","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/2016\/11\/29\/storm-cuts-power-to-14000\/","title":{"rendered":"Storm Cuts Power To 14,000"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>November 29, 2016<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>About 14,000 Ergon Energy customers in the southern half of the South Burnett lost power when a thunderstorm passed through the region on Monday night.<\/p>\n<p>Power went off at 11:38pm.<\/p>\n<p>An Ergon spokesman said the storm affected a line from the Tarong substation that supplies the Kingaroy substation, causing the network protection system to trip, cutting power to all customers supplied from Kingaroy.<\/p>\n<p>Residents in Kingaroy, Nanango, Yarraman, Blackbutt, Maidenwell and Cooyar were affected. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Power was restored progressively to customers up to 12:22am,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Crews attended the substation to check that no damage requiring repair had occurred, re-set the protection system and then power was successfully restored.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Footnote: Rainfall from the storm was variable. In Kingaroy, between 4mm and 6mm was reported, with heavier falls at Kumbia (25mm), Yarraman and Blackbutt (24mm).
