Cherbourg will receive more than $336,000 in grant funding as part of the State Government\u2019s $70 million local government infrastructure and jobs boost program announced earlier this year.<\/p>\n

Minister For State Development and Ministerial Champion for Cherbourg Dr Anthony Lynham said on Friday the funding was awarded to Cherbourg Aboriginal Shire Council to help them to deliver projects to boost local liveability and improve water security.<\/p>\n

“We know how important great infrastructure is to the community, and these grants mean that the council will be able to deliver this infrastructure,” Dr Lynham said.<\/p>\n

The Government has allocated $170,000 of funding to renovate the Cherbourg Community Hall to ensure it will be a safe facility and place of refuge during natural disasters, as well as providing a place to meet and hold community events at other times.<\/p>\n

A further $126,000 has been approved to upgrade pipes for the town’s main water supply.<\/p>\n

And a further $40,365 will go towards building a covered and cemented courtyard area adjacent to the Cherbourg IKC Healing Space.<\/p>\n

The funding comes from the Government\u2019s Local Government Grants and Subsidies Program, Community Resilience Fund and Natural Disaster Resilience Program.<\/p>\n
