{"id":16413,"date":"2012-11-16T16:32:48","date_gmt":"2012-11-16T06:32:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/?p=16413"},"modified":"2024-03-07T13:56:30","modified_gmt":"2024-03-07T03:56:30","slug":"man-found-not-guilty-on-sex-charges","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/2012\/11\/16\/man-found-not-guilty-on-sex-charges\/","title":{"rendered":"Man Found Not Guilty Of Sex Charges"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>November 16, 2012<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A 21-year-old Kingaroy man charged with sexual offences involving a 14-year-old girl has been found not guilty after a week-long trial in the District Court in Kingaroy.<\/p>\n<p>A jury returned its verdict this afternoon after deliberating overnight.<\/p>\n<p>The man had been charged with two counts of indecent dealing and one count of carnal knowledge.<\/p>\n<p>The Crown had alleged the accused had indecently touched the girl during an incident in a trolley bay at Kingaroy Shoppingworld in May last year, and then again at a house in Kingaroy in June 2011, where it was alleged he also had sex with her.<\/p>\n<p>The jury found him not guilty on one count of indecent dealing, and not guilty of carnal knowledge; they returned no verdict on the second count of indecent dealing.<\/p>\n<p>The court was told the girl had taken the day off school on the day the alleged second incident occurred. A total of 54 text messages had passed between the girl and the accused on that morning.<\/p>\n<p>Later that day she met up with the accused again at Shoppingworld, which was captured on CCTV at the shopping centre.<\/p>\n<p>Barrister Mr Harry Fong, for the accused, argued there was not sufficient time for the alleged offences to have occurred, and there was no DNA evidence that supported the Crown&#8217;s case.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A 21-year-old Kingaroy man charged with sexual offences involving a 14-year-old girl has been found not guilty after a week-long trial in the District Court in Kingaroy.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":20,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[3,24],"tags":[155,21,1132],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v19.11 -
