The Wide Bay Burnett Regional Organisation of Councils (WBBROC) has launched a tourist brochure to promote the aquatic attractions of the Wide Bay Burnett.<\/p>\n

The brochure – Regional Water Trails – is the result of six Councils working together with input from local tourism organisations.<\/p>\n

The aims is to develop a “water trail” that encourages people to travel across the region.<\/p>\n

South Burnett Mayor Keith Campbell said the South Burnett had a variety of dams and rivers that were great for activities including fishing, canoeing and water ski-ing.<\/p>\n

“With this brochure we are hoping that it will encourage visitors from not only interstate but from within Queensland to the South Burnett and we are hoping it will further encourage our residents to get out there and enjoy what our region has to offer,” he said.<\/p>\n

WBBROC chairman Cr Mick Curran – the mayor of Gympie Regional Council – said the Wide Bay Burnett region was unique in having such a broad range of water features.<\/p>\n

“This initiative is the first of its type in Queensland, and the State Government has asked if it can use it as a ‘case study’ for other regions to follow,” Mayor Curran said.<\/p>\n

The brochure will be available from all Wide Bay Burnett tourism information centres.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
