Five former executives of failed resources company Linc Energy have been charged with environmental offences over alleged contamination from the company’s former UCG site near Chinchilla.<\/p>\n

The five – Peter Bond, Donald Schofield, Stephen Dumble, Jacobus Terblanche and Darryl Rattai – are expected to appear in Dalby Magistrates Court later this month.<\/p>\n

Linc Energy was placed into liquidation in May with debts of about $289 million.<\/p>\n

This followed legal action by the State Government against the company.<\/p>\n

In March, Linc was committed to face trial in the District Court on five charges relating to alleged breaches of Queensland environmental legislation linked to the Chinchilla UCG site.<\/p>\n

The Department of Environment and Heritage Protection alleged Linc wilfully caused serious harm by allowing gases created from the UCG process at its Hopeland site to contaminate nearby soil.<\/p>\n
