November 11, 2016<\/strong><\/p>\n

A fire that broke out at an Ergon Energy substation in Kilkivan on Thursday afternoon is still burning, but has not affected the electricity supply to nearby residents.<\/p>\n

An Ergon Energy spokesman said the fire was in a voltage transformer inside the bulk supply substation, one of two substations located in Kilkivan.<\/p>\n

The fire has affected one of the two lines coming into the substation.<\/p>\n

The other feed has not been affected, enabling supply to be maintained to zone substations and from there to Ergon Energy customers.<\/p>\n

The fire was allowed to burn overnight with fire crews on standby to ensure it did not escape the substation complex.<\/p>\n

Ergon workers are also at the site to determine the best course of action.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
