Urban firefighters assess the extent of the fire at Booie<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

A lightning strike from the dry storm that passed over Kingaroy early on Tuesday evening has been blamed for starting a grass fire at Booie.<\/p>\n

A caller to southburnett.com.au<\/strong> said they saw the lightning flash and then only moments later saw smoke start to rise.<\/p>\n

The couple called Triple 0 and firefighters were quickly on the scene.<\/p>\n

Kingaroy urban firefighters as well as at least one rural unit attended.<\/p>\n

The fire was burning on a farm adjacent to Millers Road (opposite the former Captains Paddock cellardoor).<\/p>\n

Firefighters were kept busy throughout the South Burnett on Tuesday.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Five fire units were called to a grass fire burning in Barr Smith Street, Yarraman.<\/p>\n

The fire broke out in the morning and kept burning until the early afternoon.<\/p>\n

There were also grassfires at Booie Road, Booie, and Barker Creek Flat, also possibly started by lightning.<\/p>\n

Crews were called back to a fire that has been burning for several days at Kinleymore.<\/p>\n

Eight QFES crews were called on Tuesday afternoon to a large vegetation fire burning near Mundubbera-Durong Road at Beeron.<\/p>\n

Firefighters began backburning in a bid to control the fire.<\/p>\n

A QFES spokesperson said there was no threat to property but the fire was causing significant smoke.<\/p>\n

UPDATE November 9:<\/strong> \u00a0 Six fire crews remain at a vegetation fire burning near Mundubbera-Durong Road. Firefighters are monitoring the fire, which is currently burning within containment lines.<\/p>\n
