Members from the Quota Club of Kingaroy spent two days at the Orana Lutheran Complex last week.<\/p>\n

They’d been called together by former Kingaroy Shire Councillor Marie Shaw, who told them she had an urgent sewing assignment.<\/p>\n

It appeared Orana had inherited 400 king-size bed sheets.<\/p>\n

But since there wasn’t a single king size bed in the aged care complex, the sheets needed to be cut and resewn into singles.<\/p>\n

Marie had been approached about the problem by Orana’s management; and she, in turn, approached her fellow Quota Club members, who are well known for their formidable sewing skills.<\/p>\n

True to form, the Quotarians gathered in a large room at Orana’s central administration building with their sewing machines and scissors, and completed the mammoth task in a day.<\/strong><\/p>\n

And the next day, a smaller number returned to sew the remaining cloth into pillow slips.<\/p>\n

Marie said she was very proud of what the club was able to accomplish.<\/p>\n

She also thanked Orana’s staff for providing morning and afternoon teas and lunches while everyone applied themselves to the task.<\/p>\n

“It’s not a sweatshop when you’re so well fed,” she joked.<\/p>\n

“And we had a lot of fun doing it.”<\/p>\n
