The Ration Shed Museum at Cherbourg has been successful with another funding application … this time under the Federal Government’s Community Heritage Grants Program.<\/p>\n

Federal Member for Wide Bay Llew O\u2019Brien said the $12,585 would allow the Ration Shed Museum to buy conservation, storage and archival materials and preserve objects of national significance in the local community.<\/p>\n

“The Ration Shed Museum is a significant regional and cultural asset that does great work in the community,” Mr O’Brien said.<\/p>\n

“It is important that we support the Ration Shed to enable the story of Cherbourg and its people to continue to be told.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Community Heritage Grants Program provides grants of up to $15,000 to community organisations such as historical societies, museums, public libraries and galleries to document, preserve, digitise and display collections and objects of national significance.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn 2016-2017 the Community Heritage Grants program will provide organisations with over $400,000 in grants, supporting over 70 projects across Australia.”<\/p>\n

The program is supported by the Department of Communications and the Arts with four of Australia\u2019s cultural institutions: the National Library of Australia, the National Archives of Australia, the National Film and Sound Archive and the National Museum of Australia.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
