Local residents took up Nanango police’s challenge on Saturday to test out their driving skills on the South Burnett Go Kart Track.<\/p>\n

Police officers did laps of the track at the same time as everyone else was having a go.<\/p>\n

It was a police officer – Constable Tyler Roberts – who had clocked up the fastest time when southburnett.com.au<\/strong> dropped by.<\/p>\n

Officer-in-charge of Nanango Police, Sergeant Jason Newton, said the day was all about promoting the road safety message in different ways to reach different people.<\/p>\n

As well as having fun in the go karts, the charity day also included a “stopping distance” demonstration, which showed how extra speed is reflected in longer braking distances.<\/p>\n

Ambulance and fire-fighters also “rescued” a driver from a wrecked vehicle.<\/p>\n

Money raised on the day will assist Queensland Police Legacy.<\/p>\n
