Almost one in five of the 419 workers hired so far under the State Government’s Back To Work regional jobs package come from the Wide Bay-Burnett.<\/p>\n

Employment Minister Grace Grace said on Thursday that employers in the Wide Bay-Burnett region are getting behind the $100 million Back to Work program. <\/p>\n

“There are 83 jobseekers in the Wide Bay-Burnett who are now back at work thanks to our regional jobs package,” she said. <\/p>\n

“Encouragingly, almost half of those employed under this program in the Wide Bay-Burnett are long-term unemployed who have been out of work for 12 months or more.”<\/p>\n

Ms Grace said the Back to Work program was giving employers the confidence to hire, which was great for local jobs and the local economy. <\/p>\n

She said employers who are thinking of hiring should get in touch with our local Back to Work team to put themselves in line for support payments. <\/p>\n

Back to Work provides employer support payments of $10,000 to $15,000 for eligible employers who hire an unemployed worker. <\/strong><\/p>\n

To be eligible for an employer support payment, employees need to have started work on, or after, Friday 1 July 2016, and have been employed for at least four weeks. <\/p>\n

Eligibility criteria apply and payments are paid to businesses in two parts. <\/p>\n

The first payment is made after one month, and the balance at the end of the employee\u2019s first year with the business. <\/p>\n
