Rumours that Stanwell Corporation plans to cut white-collar positions at Tarong Power Station have been confirmed by southburnett.com.au<\/strong><\/p>\n

“Preliminary discussions” were held on Tuesday with a number of employees at the power station in various corporate roles.<\/p>\n

Representatives from Stanwell in Brisbane reportedly told these workers their positions at Tarong may become redundant.<\/p>\n

A source at the power station told southburnett.com.au<\/strong> it had been evident for some time that pressure was being put on Stanwell by the State Government to either raise income or cut costs.<\/p>\n

“It shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone that this (job cutbacks) was on the cards,” the source said.<\/p>\n

Stanwell has a policy of “no forced redundancies” which employees are now hoping will also apply to the non-unionised workforce at the power station.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
