The South Burnett Regional Council will holding public meetings around the region over the next two weeks to promote disaster readiness ahead of the summer storm season.<\/p>\n

Get Ready Week started on Monday, October 10 and this year the Council has developed a ‘Be Prepared – Tips for Community Safety Guide’, thanks to funding from RACQ Get Ready Queensland.<\/p>\n

The key message of Get Ready Week is that residents should be prepared if disaster strikes.<\/p>\n

The guide has been designed to be kept in a handy place, such as on a fridge or in a glove box, and it will be officially launched at 9:00 am on Thursday, October 13 at the Kingaroy Town Hall forecourt.<\/p>\n

Emergency services personnel, service vehicles and an SES flood boat will be on display, and members of the South Burnett Local Disaster Management Group will also be in attendance.<\/p>\n

Residents are invited to come along to hear important Get Ready Week information, as well as meet emergency services personnel and volunteers.<\/p>\n

“This is an important week to thank all of our South Burnett emergency services personnel for the wonderful work they do throughout the year, but particularly in times of disaster,” Mayor Keith Campbell said.<\/p>\n

There will be similar launches on Friday, October 14 at the Nanango Cultural Centre at 9:00am, and at Les Muller Park in Blackbutt at 2:00pm.<\/p>\n

The following week, launches will also be held at Coronation Park in Wondai at 9:00am on Thursday, October 20; and at the Murgon Visitor Information Centre (9:00am) and at Proston Town Hall (2:00pm) on Friday, October 21.<\/p>\n

Mayor Keith Campbell thanked RACQ Get Ready Queensland for funding the project.<\/p>\n
