Two historic wooden buildings which had been threatened with demolition at Nanango Hospital are now safely re-located at Nanango Showgrounds.<\/p>\n

The old Community Health building and a smaller building known as the Seamstress’ Hut were loaded onto trucks for the short journey via back streets to the showground.<\/p>\n

Nanango Historical Society president Ros Gregor, who launched the campaign to save the buildings, was smiling as she watched them trundle away on Thursday morning.<\/p>\n

The two wooden buildings had been located at the rear of the hospital complex on land which Queensland Health wants to develop into a much-needed car park.<\/p>\n

Ros said the buildings were in a good condition and it would have been a pity for them to have been demolished.<\/p>\n

Darling Downs Hospital and Health Service Board member Cheryl Dalton, who also watched the buildings depart the hospital grounds, said it had been great outcome for the Nanango community.<\/p>\n

The larger building will be used as a meeting room at the showgrounds, while the Seamstress\u2019 Hut will become the new Show Society Office, located near the main gate.<\/p>\n
