Blackbutt artist Cary “Gus” McAulay will be holding an art workshop later this month as part of the “Connecting Heart To Hart” project, sponsored by Stanwell.<\/p>\n

The artworks created at the workshop will then be turned into ceramic tiles for a community space at the Scott Haven Independent Living Complex in Blackbutt.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe want to create a happy community space at the Hart Street complex for the residents and visitors,” Blackbutt and Benarkin Aged Care Association chairman Jeff Connor said.<\/p>\n

“Each participant in the workshop will create a painting that will be made into a tile. This tile will be placed in final public artwork in the outdoor garden space at Scott Haven.<\/p>\n

“These workshops not only provide a creative outlet for the participants, but our aim is to also increase awareness of the much-needed infrastructure that will provide for current and future seniors in the region.”<\/p>\n

Gus was born in North Queensland and has been painting professionally since 1980.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“In my paintings of Australia, I endeavour to express my interpretation of this land and its people, utilising both my digital camera and the vivid dreams I have every night,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI exhibit and sell my work at Scattered Arts Gallery (Brisbane), The Butt Art Gallery (Blackbutt) and the Old Church Art Gallery (Moore).<\/p>\n

“I teach art at Scattered Arts, The Orchid Art Studio, Kingaroy, and at my Anam Cara Art Studio near Blackbutt.\u201d<\/p>\n

The art workshop will be help from 4:00pm to 6:00pm on Friday, October 28, at Nukku Nook.<\/p>\n

Cost is a $25 donation (tax deductible) which will also include all art materials.<\/p>\n

Bookings are essential as spaces at the workshop are limited.<\/p>\n

The garden and community space at Scott Haven will be completed by January 2017.<\/p>\n
