The National Rural Women\u2019s Coalition is inviting young women living in rural Australia to apply for a three-day residential program designed to build their leadership skills.<\/p>\n

The NRWC plans to take 16 young women, aged 18-30 years, \u00a0to Canberra in November for the program.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe NRWC\u2019s Young Rural Women\u2019s Muster will select 16 young women to attend a three-day residential program in Canberra to learn skills to enable them to effectively advocate on issues facing their business, industry and \/or community,\u201d NRWC president Dr Patricia Hamilton said.<\/p>\n

“It promises to be a very exciting three days for the 16 successful applicants.<\/p>\n

\u201cParticipants will be professionally facilitated through a group learning process of examining the knowledge, skills and capacities required to lead effectively.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Muster will include a range of speakers who will share their personal leadership experience, including how to frame an advocacy issue, bring an issue to the attention of policy makers, work politically, shape public opinion, and develop strategies to have their voices heard.<\/p>\n

Participants will hear from experienced leaders from diverse backgrounds and visit Parliament House to learn more about the political decision-making process.<\/p>\n

After the residential program, participants will implement a leadership project within three months and report the outcomes back to the group.<\/p>\n

Applicants will be selected upon the merit of their proposed project, which includes the ability to show leadership in primary industry production or involvement in building resilient and vibrant rural and regional communities.<\/p>\n

The 2016 Young Rural Women\u2019s Muster is supported by funding from the Federal Government.<\/p>\n

The NRWC will fund accommodation, all meals and the residential training program while attendees are in Canberra. NRWC will also subsidise travel costs up to $250.<\/p>\n
