Five time Golden Guitar winner Ked Taylor, who once toured with the Slim Dusty Show, will be entertaining the crowds at the Country Fair in Kingaroy on November 26<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

A Country Fair will be held at Kingaroy Airport on Saturday, November 26, to help raise some Christmas cheer for the South Burnett’s disadvantaged and struggling.<\/p>\n

The project is the brainchild of Rural Chaplain Mark Wall, from the Churches of Christ, and the Kingaroy Men’s Shed.<\/p>\n

An organising committee of volunteers drawn from across the region has begun to meet regularly.<\/p>\n

While the local economy has been slowly improving over the last year, many people are still finding it difficult to make ends meet.<\/p>\n

One proof of this is that the South Burnett Pantry recently began distributing hampers in the Tablelands area because some northern residents were finding it difficult to travel to Kingaroy.<\/p>\n

It now distributes 40 hampers a month there, and demand for its services still shows no sign of slowing down.<\/p>\n

The Country Fair will be held in front of the Men’s Shed at the airport.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The format for the event will be an afternoon of family orientated games such as egg and spoon races, sack races, frisbee tossing and similar old-fashioned amusements.<\/p>\n

This will be followed by an evening program of entertainment featuring guest speaker Lachie Smart, a 16-year-old aviation adventurer who recently claimed a Guinness World Record for flying around the world solo.<\/p>\n

Musician Ked Taylor, a five-time Golden Guitar winner nominated for an ARIA award in 1999 for the best country music album – and who once toured with the Slim Dusty Show – will be appearing on the bill, too.<\/p>\n

Other special guests are also being organised.<\/p>\n

Funds raised on the day will go to assist the South Burnett Pantry and other support groups in the region, with the aim of helping to bring some much-needed Christmas cheer to people who find themselves in bleak circumstances.<\/p>\n
