Football legend Allan “Alfie” Langer will be coming to Murgon on Thursday, October 20.<\/p>\n

Alfie will be a special guest at a private dinner being held at Murgon’s Royal Hotel, and will be speaking about his illustrious rugby league career.<\/p>\n

Allan Langer is widely regarded as one of the finest half-backs Queensland has produced.<\/p>\n

He captained the Broncos to their first premiership win in 1992, has won both the Clive Churchill and Rothmans medals, and represented Australia in 25 games.<\/p>\n

He was a fixture in the Maroons\u2019 State of Origin team during the 1980s-90s, and in one remarkable year – 1998 – he captained the Broncos to take out the NRL Premiership, the Maroons to a State of Origin series victory, and Australia to a Test series win against New Zealand.<\/p>\n

During his 12 years at the Broncos (1988-99 and his “comeback” year in 2002), Langer played 258 first grade games.<\/p>\n

His appearance in Murgon is being organised by Mark MacDonald.<\/p>\n

Tickets to the dinner are $50 per head and will include pre-dinner nibbles, a main meal and dessert.<\/p>\n

However, numbers are limited.<\/p>\n
