When this is finished, they’ll return to widening, gravelling and sealing the section from Haynes Kite Millar Road towards Corcoran Road.

Near Kumbia, workers have recently completed shoulder gravel resheeting of a narrow sealed section of Kumbia Road from Ellesmere Road towards the Stuart River bridge. They’ll now conduct seal widening of the narrow section from the Stuart River bridge towards an existing two-lane section between the bridge and Kumbia.

In Kingaroy, the Clarke and Swendson Road upgrade project near Swickers will see work start on reconstructing the southern side of the Kingaroy Barkers Creek Road. While this is underway traffic is being channeled along the northern side, controlled by traffic signals. Once the southern side is done, the process will be reversed while crews work on the northern side of the road. Clarke and Swendson Road will remain closed until two-way traffic can be reinstated on Kingaroy Barkers Creek Road.

At Nanango East, work crews have regraded Johnstown Road off Manumbar Road, and opened up the narrow pinch on Mercer Springate Road near Snowys Knob Road. They should get to Hamilton Road within a few weeks.

In Chahpingah, work has started on reshaping and gravel resheeting Hodges Dip Road from the southern end. As part of this work, some scour protection work will also be carried out to minimise future maintenance. Work crews are expected to stay in the Burrandowan and Ironpot areas for several months.

At Ironpot, maintenance crews have begun to repair concrete floodways on Greystonlea Road as well as installing extra cross road culverts. Greystonlea Road will be graded once work has finished on Hodges Dip Road and adjoining roads. Workers will also attend to a scour culvert on Ironpot Road.

In the north, one maintenance crew are installing signage and lnemarking around Murgon Primary School; a second crew are working on Durong State School’s car park in the west.

Work crews will also begin preparing for both the SBRC and Transport and Main Roads (TMR) upcoming reseal program by doing shoulder trimming and pavement repairs, Cr Jones said.

TMR will have an unusually large reseal program for State-controlled roads this year, and he hoped it would start before December 31.

Later in the meeting, Councillors voted to award the Council’s own resealing tender to SRS Roads Pty Ltd for $1,295,871 plus GST.

The South Burnett’s rural roads are steadily improving, Cr Spud Jones told Wednesday’s South Burnett Regional Council meeting.

[22,3
1131
<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v19.11 -
