Wet weather failed to dampen enthusiasm for the launch of\u00a0Bug Fest in Nanango on Saturday.<\/p>\n

While the\u00a0 inclement weather the put an end to plans to hold children’s reading sessions at CBD businesses, activities at CTC Community Hub, the Nanango Library and workshops at the Cultural Centre with writer John Danalis went ahead as scheduled.<\/p>\n

Mr Danalis, author of “Schumann the Shoeman” and “Riding the Black Cockatoo” – both available at\u00a0any of the South Burnett’s public libraries – presented three workshops to more than 50 South Burnett locals.<\/p>\n

Children were able to use their creative side to design their own character and story, while adults were taught how to tap into their “inner storyteller” to develop a narrative worth sharing.<\/p>\n

The winner of the “Design The Bug” competition was Emily Humphrey and the runners-up were Sapphire Wilson, Chloe Black, Sophie Rose Langhans and Jack from LG1 at St Patrick’s.<\/p>\n

Design the Bug Entries will be on display at the Nanango Library until Friday, November 16 while the Reading Egg is visiting.<\/p>\n

The Reading Egg will then travel to St Patrick\u2019s Primary School from November 19\u201330, before making an appearance at the Nanango Markets on Saturday, December 1.<\/p>\n

The Reading Bug Project<\/strong><\/a> is collaboration between RHealth, South Burnett Regional Council, CTC, Nanango State School, St Patrick\u2019s and Stanwell.<\/p>\n

The Reading Bug committee said they’d like to thank the following Nanango businesses for supporting the project by decorating their shop fronts in red (to show they’re well read): Nanango Meats, The Uncommon Variety Shop, Gecko Bazaar, Rocco\u2019s Pet Supplies, Nanango Real Estate, Nanango Country Bakehouse, and Nanango Auto Spare Parts and Accessories.<\/p>\n
