{"id":158587,"date":"2016-09-20T23:00:41","date_gmt":"2016-09-20T13:00:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/?p=158587"},"modified":"2020-10-05T11:59:37","modified_gmt":"2020-10-05T01:59:37","slug":"rotary-books-up-a-record","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/2016\/09\/20\/rotary-books-up-a-record\/","title":{"rendered":"Rotary Books Up A Record"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_158589\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-158589\" style=\"width: 740px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/20160917bookarama1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-158589\" title=\"20160917 Bookarama\" src=\"http:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/20160917bookarama1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"740\" height=\"460\" srcset=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/20160917bookarama1.jpg 620w, https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/20160917bookarama1-300x186.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 740px) 100vw, 740px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-158589\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Rotarian Graham Jenkins was helping to keep the tables stocked with fresh books<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>September 20, 2016<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Taabinga Rotary members are still counting the dollars after their &#8220;biggest ever&#8221; Bookarama at the weekend, but it looks like the club has raised about $13,000 from book sales.<\/p>\n<p>President Paul\u00a0Laurentiussen said about 8000 books were sold on Saturday and Sunday at Kingaroy Town Hall.<\/p>\n<p>Proceeds from the sale will assist\u00a0Kingaroy Local Ambulance Committee&#8217;s fundraising for an advanced training mannequin at Kingaroy Ambulance Station,\u00a0\u00a0\u201cViolets Of Tomorrow\u201d (fundraising for the Children\u2019s Cancer Institute of Australia)\u00a0and Taabinga Rotary\u2019s plan to upgrade the walking track in the Kingaroy Town Common.<\/p>\n<p>A pop-up cafe, run by the Kingaroy Rotary Club alongside Bookarama, was also deemed a success, with club president Wayne Bushell saying he had to whip up a second batch of curry after selling out the first lot.<\/p>\n<p>Taabinga Rotary is already starting to think about next year&#8217;s Bookarama.<\/p>\n<p>Donations of books for sale can be left at J.A.
