Computers have become so much a part of life that farmers who lack basic computer skills are now at a distinct disadvantage … but a new TAFE course aims to help (Photo: WA Dept of Agriculture)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Kingaroy’s TAFE College will be offering a nine-hour course in basic computer skills for farmers next month.<\/p>\n

The course was created after TAFE recently ran “Farm Household Allowance” information sessions at its Kingaroy, Gympie, Chinchilla and Dalby campuses in conjunction with the Department of Human Services.<\/p>\n

Graziers who attended the sessions were asked what skills they needed training in to improve their financial viability.<\/p>\n

“Basic computer training was mentioned by over 80 percent of the attendees at the Kingaroy information session alone,” Business Development Officer Rob Fitz-Herbert said.<\/p>\n

“In response to this need, we’ve now developed a basic computing course to help our community.<\/p>\n

“Acquisition of these foundation digital skills is aimed at developing capacity on the farm, and in business.”<\/p>\n

The course will have three parts, each three hours long, and sessions will be run on October 4, October 11 and November 1.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Class sizes are limited to 10, and farmers can take the whole course or just the sessions that fill gaps in their knowledge.<\/p>\n

The cost of each session is $66.<\/p>\n
