November 9, 2012<\/strong><\/p>\n

Cherbourg schoolchildren and their parents took the opportunity today to remember last year’s floods – and think about how the town could prepare if another disaster loomed.<\/p>\n

They gathered on Jack O’Chin Oval for “Get Ready Cherbourg Day”.<\/p>\n

It’s hard to believe that during the 2011 floods, water was lapping the grandstand on the oval.<\/p>\n

The children had an opportunity to learn about all the different emergency services.<\/p>\n

There were also fun activities which also had a serious side … such as learning how to fill sand bags.<\/p>\n

The Ration Shed Museum prepared a display a photographs taken during the floods which brought back many not-so-pleasant memories.<\/p>\n
